Troubleshooting iPhone to PC transfers
The upload stops when I switch apps
iOS pauses background tabs. Stay in Safari until the progress bar under the item is full.
The PC says the other device has paused
The iPhone locked or Safari went to the background in the middle of the upload. Unlock it and bring Safari back to the front. If the upload was cut off, the PC tells you so; send the item again.
The photo arrives as HEIC
Windows 11 opens HEIC with the free HEIF extension. You can also set Camera → Formats → Most Compatible on the iPhone.
The file is over 10 MB
For large videos or whole albums, use a USB cable and Apple’s photo-import steps.
I took the wrong item
Hit Undo in the toast within a few seconds and it goes back on the shelf.
